How Important are Setting Goals?


We all start our day the same by waking up and then having 24 hours ahead of us. The difference is how we use that time and that determines how much we accomplish. I have found that one of the best things I can do is take a few minutes in the morning to gather my thoughts and list my goals for the day.

The world is at our fingertips when we are on the computer and so let’s share a beautiful sunrise. This is a perfect way to start a day.

The next step is to take those few quiet moments in your busy day to focus on what you want to accomplish in your day. I write down my list for the day in a small notebook I carry every where and post them to a group I am in to help keep myself accountable.

I have done this for years even before the computer and I know it works for me. We are each unique in how we handle our day so this may not work for everyone but try it and see.

This is a very simple way of keeping your day focused and organized and it is easy to refer back to your list as the day goes on.

I know from experience my day never goes as planned and I never accomplish all I write down. That being said there is a feeling of accomplishment at the end of the day when I can cross items off the list and look forward to tomorrow and start a new list.

  1. I make a to-do list every day – I don’t always get all of them done but I work on it. And it keeps me focused. Having said that, I’m 5 blog-posts behind and most of yesterday’s list is still on today’s sheet.

    I have read for years (40 years to be exact) that if you have WRITTEN goals for today, the week, the month, 3 mos, a year, 3 years and 5 years, you are like 90% more likely to accomplish them. My goal for 5 years is to be alive but the rest of those time frames are all in flux. ummmm maybe I need to review those.

      I agree with your goal for 5 years and mine too. I have always felt that writing them down works best for me. I appreciate your comments and glad it helped get you thinking.
