Have You Tried Craigslist To Sell Your Items?

Are you looking for somewhere to list without paying fees like you do on Ebay and Amazon? I have used Craigslist for years to sell items and this site can be a great addition to your online selling venues.

Craigslist is a site that is set up to list in local areas for pick up but you can use it in a variety of ways. I do most of my listing on my local area sites and then arrange pickup. I list items that I don’t want to bother shipping to small things that aren’t worth listing once fees are paid. You would be surprised at the items that sold to someone that wanted shipping so always mention that if you are willing to ship. I also make sure to list my payment methods in my listing.

Craigslist is very easy to use and the first thing you need is to set up a free account with a name and password. There are a lot of scams going around so be sure you always sign into your site and not a scam site. The best way to do this is just go to www.craigslist.com and do not click on any link you get in an email.

You can decide what local area is close to you but if there is none you can still list small items on any area and say you will ship. Once you sign in and figure out where to sell it is very easy to do a listing. You can also list an item on any area site if that is where your buyers are just remember to include the fact you will shipping.

You need a title, a price and the area you are in at the top. Then there is the space to write your listing. I tend to keep it simple a few lines to describe the item and the fact I will ship and payments methods I will take. I have seen some ads with phone numbers and/or emails included. You have the option of having your email hidden to the people that email you about the item also. There are choices on how and what you put in your listings and this just takes a bit of common sense to use the site safely.

You can upload 4 pictures and I always take 4 pictures. This is very easy to do and pictures often sell on item better then describing it. You just upload the pictures right from your computer. Then when you are done you just go to the next page and it asked you to write the word it asks for and your listing is on the site.

The listings stay on the site for 30 days then they remove them but if you sell the item before that always go in and remove it yourself. You have an account page that shows all your listings and it is easy to relist it after 30 days if you want.

They do require you only list one item on one area and not cross list things. This site is no different then any other site and they have certain requirement that you should read first. It is always a good idea to get the feel of the site and understand the requirements and restrictions

Then once a sale is made you have the choice of having them pick the item up at your house or somewhere else. You can meet at a public place if you are not comfortable with someone coming to your home. I think a lot depends on the area you live in and also the kinds of items you are listing. I also have a pick up truck and include that I can deliver a bigger item for a small fee.

Craigslist has places to list free items and business services you just have to check the requirements to list on these pages. This is a large site with a lot of possibilities to sell your items with no fees and certainly worth looking into to see if it will work for your business.

I would love to hear from others that have used Craigslist for sales.
